The Udzungwa Mountains are part of the Eastern Arc Mountains which are found in Kenya and Tanzania and were formed some 200 million years ago. Today they hold a unique collection of flora and fauna and cover only 2% of Tanzania’s area but hold between 30-40% of the countries plant and mammal species. The most popular trail is to the magnificent Sanje waterfalls, a 5km circuit with spectacular views across the plains and three wonderful waterfalls.

FULL DAY GAME DRIVE AT RUAHA NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, you will have a full-day game viewing drive in the park. A fine network of gameviewing roads follows the Great Ruaha and its seasonal tributaries.
During the dry season, impala, waterbuck, and other antelopes risk their life for a sip of lifesustaining water and the risk is considerable, not only from the prides of 20-plus lions that lord over the savannah, but also from the cheetahs that stalk the open grassland and the leopards that lurk in tangled riverine thickets. This impressive array of large predators is boosted by both striped and spotted hyena, as well as several conspicuous packs of the highly endangered African wild dog. Lunch at Ruaha River Lodge inside the park. After lunch you will proceed with evening game drive until evening where you will go back to the Hotel for cover night.
